We do not recommend any specific brands of SPF. When looking for SPF and sun protection you should know that the sun releases two types of harmful energy onto our skin: UVA and UVB. A good sunscreen should protect you from both of these. SPF protection is a reflection of UVB protection only. In order to be sure there is UVA protection, there should be a separate symbol on the bottle showing this – often represented by a star rating or the letters ‘UVA’ in a black circle. You should reapply every two to three hours while outside. The amount of sunscreen you apply is as important as regular reapplication – aim for 2.5 grams of sunscreen to cover your entire face, which is roughly the equivalent of one teaspoon. And don’t forget your eyelids, around your eyes and your ears! Even then, we would strongly recommend staying out of direct sunlight, especially during the peak hours each day as much as possible, especially when using your Dermatica treatment.
